Why? Because it's Gandhi's Birthday! (Well, almost. He was born October 2, 1869.) We'll be awarding the Gandhi Peace Award (It's a surprise for now!), enjoying peace-full entertainment, hearing peace-full messages, planting a tree for peace, and enjoying refreshments and peace-full people. This event is all very short and and very very sweet! And you get free admission to the Aviary if you're attending! Put it on your calendar. Seriously. 11/3/2016 0 Comments Gandhi Birthday Celebration 2016!Our 2016 birthday celebration was held on October 2 at Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake City's Liberty Park. The earlier rain and clouds parted to create a shining afternoon of celebration and friendship. We enjoyed a call to prayer by Imam Shuaib Din; traditional and Bollywood dances from India; a rendition of "Lead Kindly Light," one of Gandhi's favorite hymns; a ceremonial tree planting for peace; and the presentation of the annual Gandhi Peace Award to Elise Lazar.
