Ghandi's Gift
Gandhi's Gift documents Gandhi at the end of his life, on the brink of attaining his lifelong goal of freedom from the British but with his heart breaking by the partition of India and terrible communal violence that is killing an estimated million or more. Having led masses in nonviolent marches, Gandhi now walks alone for unity and peace.

Gandhi Alliance for Peace and the Utah Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons - July 2018 Movie screenings

Two film classics from the nuclear weapons information genre will be screened at St. Ambrose this month: on 7/17 and 7/31, at 7 PM.
The first film, on 7/17, Nuclear Savage, is a compelling documentation of downwinder history, here in the intermountain west and in the Marshall Islands of the Pacific Ocean. A strong connection to the present is the recent—7/7/18—Salt Lake Tribune front page piece about the newly proposed U.S. Congressional legislation to more justly compensate those who suffered from exposure to toxic fallout.
The second film, Command and Control, on 7/31, you may have seen on television. It was inspired by the book by the same name written by Eric Schlosser. The book, a 2014 publication, was described by the New York Times Book Review as "disquieting but riveting". The film is a PBS production of the story of a nuclear silo incident called the "Damascus accident" in the state of Arkansas, as told by actual silo crew members.
 7/17 and 7/31, at 7 PM
